In a move to honour the groundbreaking contributions of Black surgical pioneer Vivien Thomas, Ontario’s five children's hospitals have officially renamed the cardiac procedure previously known as the Blalock-Taussig (BT) shunt to the Blalock-Thomas-Taussig (BTT) shunt.
