Our team, comprised of about 1,200 employees, serves over 9,000 clients each year through diverse programs and services. Holland Bloorview employs a variety of clinical employees, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, psychologists, clinical assistants, physicians, dentists, dental hygienists and assistants, social workers, therapeutic recreation specialists, art therapists, music therapists, child life specialists, dieticians, pharmacists, orthotists and prosthetists.
Our clinicians assume a leadership role in developing partnerships with clients, families and other health-care professionals to ensure optimal care delivery.
We employ registered nurses, ambulatory care nurses, registered practical nurses and nursing students.
Our philosophy supports a family-centred approach and our nurse-to-client ratios are generally 3:1. We offer onsite educational opportunities and have clinical educators associated with each of our units in place to support ongoing learning.
Registered nurses at Holland Bloorview are non-unionized, yet receive the same compensation rates as unionized members of the Ontario Nurses Association. Registered practical nurses are unionized and are represented by the Ontario Federation of Healthcare Workers.
Nursing students seeking to enhance their experience have the opportunity to work as health-care providers during summers in our inpatient units. They also have opportunities to work part-time throughout the year.
Holland Bloorview is proud to partner with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) to implement evidence-based guidelines providing nurses with the latest research evidence in patient care. Holland Bloorview is one of 16 organizations across Ontario to be awarded a RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization candidacy.
We employ a variety of employees, including but not limited to swimming instructors, aquafitness instructors, 1:1 facilitators, musicians, artists, developmental support workers and personal support workers. Our program goals are to increase independence and life activities, promote health and wellness, and reduce barriers to participation.
Holland Bloorview employs professional and management staff in all areas of the organization including health records, finance, human resources, information systems, and communications and public affairs.
The Bloorview Research Institute is committed to increasing research capacity and training the next generation of rehabilitation researchers.
