At Holland Bloorview Kid’s Rehabilitation hospital we have made a considerable investment in how we communicate. We provide education and training in humanistic communication, which is grounded in the solution-focused coaching model. Care conversations are anchored in generative language and dialogue. By establishing a common language, supported by principles and practice, there is a positive reciprocal process that enhances culture, collaborative practice and wellbeing for healthcare providers as well as clients and families.
As a research institute, affiliated with the University of Toronto, evidence suggests our efforts have had a significant positive impact on clinicians, clients and families. This approach has enhanced client- and family-centred care, facilitated collaboration between and amongst the members of the healthcare team, and improved the experience of healthcare workers.
Holland Bloorview Kid Rehabilitation Hospital is a world leader in evidence-based solution-focused coaching practice within healthcare.
In 2020 our Solution-Focused Health Care Coaching (SFHCC) program received accreditation through CCPC Global. We are now opening this one-of-a-kind program to external participants beginning January 2021.
We have also created a suite of humanistic, solution-focused workshops for those who are interested in education and training without the full commitment of our certification.
