Holland Bloorview offers adapted recreation equipment for clients to borrow for up to two weeks with no charge.

Who we are


Through Holland Bloorview’s Adapted Recreation Equipment Loan service we’re dedicated to fulfilling inclusive and fun recreation experiences for children and youth ages 2–18 (up to 21 if still in high school). Our team supports kids of all abilities in discovering activities they love such as cycling, winter activities, sensory exploration and more.

Who we serve


The equipment loan service is for client’s ages 2-18 years (up to 21 if still in high school). After an in-person assessment and trial of the equipment, families are eligible to loan from the service.

  • Holland Bloorview clients ages 2 – 18 (up to 21 if still in high school) 
  • Can participate safely in an initial assessment a group setting
  • 1:1 supports are not provided. If 1:1 is required, it is family’s responsibility to provide 1:1 support.

What we do


Holland Bloorview offers adapted recreation equipment for clients and families to borrow for up to two weeks free of charge. After an in-person assessment and trial of the equipment, families are eligible to loan from the service.  By using adapted recreation equipment kids, youth and young adults can increase independence and enjoy meaningful participation in activities at home, school and in the community. In addition, the service provides the opportunity to try equipment before deciding to purchase. Equipment includes but is not limited to:

Frequently asked questions


How often/how long can I loan equipment?

Equipment can be loaned at no cost for up to 2-weeks, once per season (Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall) while available. Reservations in advance are recommended during busy spring/summer months.

Are equipment loans for all abilities?

We do our best to accommodate clients with all disabilities. An equipment assessment/trial is required to ensure equipment provides the appropriate support.

Are loaned bikes/trikes available for delivery to my home?

No. It is the client/family’s responsibility to pick up and return the equipment safely.

Who is eligible?

Families who participate in a mandatory in-person assessment and trial of equipment are eligible to loan from the service.

What are the costs of the loan service?

Families can loan equipment from the loan service at no cost. Clients/families are responsible for the care, upkeep and protection against theft or damage of the loaned item(s) for the duration of the time that it is being lent. Clients/families assume the responsibility to reimburse Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital for loss of items and/or for the actual costs of repairs.
