Residents as Teachers Study
Dear Current and Graduated Developmental Paediatrics Subspecialty Residents/Fellows,
We are excited to invite you to participate in a research study that values your opinion and experiences as key informants.
Study Objective:
The main objective of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of residents’ self-perception of their role as teachers. We aim to investigate how residents’ involvement in teaching influences their personal learning and professional growth. We believe addressing this topic could provide valuable insights into optimizing Resident as Teacher (RaT) programs for the benefit of both residents and learners. By exploring these aspects, we hope to identify barriers to resident teacher identity formation and develop recommendations for enhancing teaching curricula at the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee for the Developmental Paediatrics Program at the University of Toronto, as well as other training programs.
Participation Details:
We invite you to participate in a one-on-one semi-structured interview, which will include open-ended questions about your early experiences as a resident teacher. The interview will be conducted virtually via Zoom, audio only, by Dr. Ayedh Alhajri at a time that is convenient for you and will last about an hour. In appreciation of your time and input, you will receive a token of appreciation.
For more detailed information, please refer to the attached informed consent form.
Please contact Ayedh Alhajri at aalhajri@hollandbloorview.ca if you would like more information or wish to participate.
We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your willingness to contribute to this study.
