Holland Bloorview ranks silver in Green Health Care Award

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has been recognized by the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care for a number of its environmental and sustainability initiatives. Overall, the hospital has ranked in the silver category for the 2018 Green Health Care award, maintaining the same level since the inception of the Green Hospital Scorecard (GHS) program in 2014.

GHS is a comprehensive healthcare benchmarking tool that measures energy and water conservation, waste management and recycling, corporate commitment and pollution prevention. Participating hospitals report on their environmental and sustainability initiatives through an online questionnaire and the resulting scorecard summarizes their environmental performance relative to their peers.

Additional awards include:

  • Top Score award: Waste Reduction
  • Honorable Mention awards: Water and Green Hospital of the Year

“We are thrilled to be recognized for the work that we do at Holland Bloorview to stay green,” says Bobby Hancock, facility management. “As a leading hospital, we’re always looking for different ways to make an impact in our community and that shouldn’t only be limited to the exceptional service and care we provide to our clients and families.”
