This event recognized and honoured staff who, in 2022, reached an important milestone for their years of service. The afternoon was filled with excitement, pride and reflection as many staff, students and volunteers from across the hospital came to celebrate and acknowledge the tremendous achievements of their colleagues and friends.

Over 125 staff members were celebrated for their dedication, passion and talent throughout their time at Holland Bloorview. Retirees, volunteers, and youth and family leaders were also among those whose achievements were recognized.

During the presentation ceremony, Clara Ho, manager of Client and Family Centred Care and Partnerships, commended volunteers, youth and family leaders as “community builders, the embodiment of empathy, and a shining example of what it means to put others before oneself.” 

Donovan Cooper, senior director of ambulatory care, praised retirees for their years of hard work, dedication, and loyalty: “Each person who retired in 2022 has contributed not only to the success of Holland Bloorview, but is also a testament to the values that make Holland Bloorview great.”

Individuals reaching service milestones ranging from 5 years to 35 years were congratulated by their fellow colleagues on stage, drawing cheers from everyone in attendance. The audience was also treated to a special “thank you” video featuring a Holland Bloorview client. 

“After three years of virtual celebrations, to be back in person brings me such joy,” says Julia Hanigsberg, CEO, Holland Bloorview. “Coming together to celebrate so many of our incredibly brilliant, compassionate and absolutely stellar colleagues is an honour and a privilege. The staff at Holland Bloorview are the foundation for everything that we do. Without them, none of our accomplishments would be possible.”
