Michelle Caturay
Michelle Caturay is a former executive in the financial services industry with over 35 years of legal and governance expertise.
During her 25-year tenure at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Michelle advised the CEO, senior executives, and the board of directors on critical legal, compliance, disclosure, and corporate governance matters. As Corporate Secretary she counselled the Board on its fiduciary obligations and worked closely with the Chair of the Board to ensure robust governance practices. As Chief Privacy Officer, Michelle oversaw the safeguarding of customer data and privacy. She lead the client complaint appeals office to resolve disputes, and was responsible for CIBC’s whistleblower program.
Before joining CIBC, Michelle worked as a business lawyer at a Canadian law firm, advising clients in the mutual fund industry. Beyond her professional achievements, Michelle remains committed to youth mentorship and advocacy. Currently, she provides governance advisory services to support boards and senior management on developing strong governance practices. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Western University and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Queen’s University.
