Dr. Shannon Knights

Dr. Shannon Knights MD, FRCPC

Head of Community Section

Dr. Shannon Knights received her Doctor of Medicine from Queen’s University and completed her postgraduate medical education at the University of Toronto, including subspecialty training in Developmental Paediatrics. Dr. Knights works as a Developmental Paediatrician at Grandview Children’s Centre. Her clinical practice involves caring for children with a range of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, and cerebral palsy. 

Dr. Knights is a co-investigator with the Childhood Cerebral Palsy Integrated Neuroscience Discovery Network (CP-NET). Through CP-NET, she led a quality improvement initiative that resulted in increased rates of hip surveillance for children with cerebral palsy at Grandview. Dr. Knights has published peer-reviewed articles related to hypertonia assessment and interactive computer play for youth with cerebral palsy.

As Head of the Community Section of Developmental Paediatrics, Dr. Knights leads a group of 20 community-based developmental paediatricians who are involved in education, advocacy and innovative models of care. She sits on the Residency Program Committee and is actively involved in teaching subspecialty residents and elective students.
