Public health guidelines and protocols will be in place, including:

  • Screening protocols
  • Physical distancing on the pool deck and in the water
  • Limited number of participants
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures

Staff will greet each swimmer and conduct a screening/assessment questionnaire prior to entry:

  1. Do you feel sick or have any of these symptoms?
    1. Fever
    2. Dry Cough
    3. Difficulty swallowing
    4. Shortness of breath
    5. Changes in sense of smell or taste
    6. Headaches
    7. Join aches
    8. Fatigue
    9. Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
  2. Are you or someone in your household currently waiting for results of testing for COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 without wearing the appropriate PPE or have you tested positive for COVID-19, all within the last 14 days?
  3. Have you travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days?
  4. If you have answer YES to any of the above questions:
    1. Do not enter and return home immediately
    2. Contact your doctor or public health
  • Follow all safety and directional signage
  • Swimmers must arrive in their swimming attire
  • Swimmers must shower at home prior to attending the swim
  • Following the program, equipment will be sanitized and high-tough surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected
  • In the event a water rescue or first aid is required to be performed by a lifeguard, personal protective equipment and specialized devices will be used at the first available opportunity.
  • In some instances, a close contact rescue will be required and lifeguards will use their best judgment to perform the rescue and maintain physical distancing

Important information for swimmers

  • Arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of the swim
  • Washrooms are available (it is recommended that participants limit the use of the washrooms while at the pool)
  • Limited equipment will be available for each participants' personal use during the program; however, swimmers are encouraged to bring their own
