Purpose

This is a study investigating whether Riomet® (metformin) can decrease weight gain caused by certain medications: Abilify (Aripiprazole), Risperdal (Risperidone), Seroquel (Quetiapine), Zyprexa (Olanzapine), Saphris (Asenapine Maleate), Clozaril (Clozapine), Fanapt (Iloperidone), Latuda (Lurasidone), Zeldox (Ziprasidone), Invega (Paliperidone). These medications are commonly used to improve irritability, agitation, and repetitive behaviours in young people with ASD.

6-17 year olds with ASD
 
 

What

32 Week (8 Month) clinical trial intervention study taking medication every day. Visits will take place every month plus extra visits for outcome measure assessments and labs.
