Volunteering at Holland Bloorview is a commitment. Our clients rely on you, the volunteer, to participate in programs. These are the requirements to volunteer at Holland Bloorview:
- At least 16 years of age (or 15 years of age in some program areas)
- Previous experience working with children and/or persons with disabilities preferred
- A positive attitude and willingness to try new things
Summer volunteer opportunities have variable schedules. They range from full-time (e.g. Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) to part-time programs (e.g. 3 mornings per week or evenings or weekends). Volunteers are required to commit to attending all scheduled shifts for their assigned program.
You must be able to complete all mandatory online and in-person orientations and trainings before your start date.
We encourage candidates to apply early for greatest program availability. The deadline for first-round consideration for Summer 2021 positions is Friday, May 28th, 2021. After that date, applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
We are accepting applications for Summer 2021 on-site client program placements, however some of our typical summer volunteer opportunities may not be available or may be limited due to COVID-19 public health restrictions. Volunteers must participate in the hospital's active screening process for COVID-19 and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Volunteers may be required to wear a mask and goggles/face shield for the duration of a volunteer shift. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided by the hospital.
