Two Holland Bloorview Scientists Awarded Prestigious Canada Research Chairs

October 16, 2014 (Toronto) - Holland Bloorview congratulates two of its scientists, Dr. Gillian King and Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou, new holders of Canada Research Chairs.

Announced today by the Honourable Ed Holder, Minister of State (Science and Technology), Dr. King's and Dr. Anagnostou's appointments make them part of an influential group of 137 chairholders across Canada.

  • Dr. Gillian King, a Senior Scientist in the Bloorview Research Institute, will hold the Canada Research Chair in Optimal Care for Children with Disabilities. Dr. King is an international leader in family-centred and optimal care for children with disabilities, and has developed measures and service delivery models used on a global scale.
  • Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou, a Senior Clinician Scientist, will hold the Canada Research Chair in Translational Therapeutics in ASD. Dr. Anagnostou is the co-lead of the Autism Research Centre at Holland Bloorview, conducting critical research into treatments to improve the quality of life for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families.
