On April 27th, Patrick Jachyra received the University of Toronto Alumni Association Graduate Scholar Award. As one of three recipients, the Graduate Scholar award recognizes doctoral students at the University of Toronto who demonstrate outstanding academic and extracurricular leadership. Patrick was presented with the award by university President Meric Gertler, Chancellor Michael Wilson and Alumni Association President Scott MacKendrick during the Awards of Excellence Ceremony honouring students and faculty.
This award acknowledges individual efforts and accomplishments, along with work in contributing to the University of Toronto's vision and leadership. Patrick also was a finalist for the Adel S. Sedra Distinguished Graduate Student Award.
"It is my honour and privilege to receive this award," says Jachyra. "It inspires me to continue to transcend disciplinary boundaries to conduct innovative research working with children and youth diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in an effort to enhance their health and well-being. I am indebted to the families from Holland Bloorview who are participating in my research. Thank you for allowing me to learn and work with you.
