Holland Bloorview kicked off Nursing Week 2012 by celebrating an outstanding achievement in nursing!
The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario’s (RNAO) officially recognized Holland Bloorview as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) - one of fourteen organizations to be named a BPSO in 2012. Funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the BPSO program focuses on making a positive impact on patient care in the province by evaluating and implementing internationally recognized nursing best practices.
Holland Bloorview has earned the BPSO designation for implementing 4 best practice guidelines:
- Supporting and strengthening families through expected and unexpected life events
- Client-centred care
- Assessment and management of pain
- Collaborative practice among nursing teams
Holland Bloorview and the RNAO celebrated this outstanding achievement on May 7, 2012, during a media conference where staff and a client spoke about best practice guidelines and how they are making a difference at Holland Bloorview. Holland Bloorview joins as one of 50 BPSOs recognized throughout Ontario and Quebec for making a commitment to quality and evidence in their daily practice.
Over the past 3 years, our work in areas related to the guidelines has been presented at numerous conferences across Canada and the United States.
