TORONTO, Ontario. (August 9, 2016) – The Ontario government is providing Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital $1 million for hospital repairs and upgrades as part of the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF). Funding will be used for hospital improvements including an upgrade to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
“We are grateful to the Government of Ontario and Toronto Central LHIN for their support in helping us enhance the quality, safety and care of our infrastructure,” says Julia Hanigsberg, president and CEO at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. “This funding will help ensure our clients and families continue to receive the highest quality care at the hospital they trust.”
Increased investment in health care is part of the Ontario government’s strategy to support sustainable healthcare, as outlined in its Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care. Across Ontario, 135 hospitals were identified to receive HIRF funding to support infrastructure projects to improve the quality of facilities and encourage an improved patient experience.
“A continued investment in hospital infrastructure ensures important health services are maintained and improved for Torontonians today and in the future,” says Susan Fitzpatrick, CEO, Toronto Central LHIN. “This priority funding for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital will go a long way in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients to continue receiving high quality care.”
