On Wednesday, November 30, Holland Bloorview hosted a booth in the cafeteria to raise awareness about the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), which takes place every year on December 3rd. The initiative was led by the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Council.
Families, students, visitors, and staff came by the booth to learn more about the annual event and pick up resources for further information about IDPD 2016. Those passing the booth often paused to read the information on the television screen as well.

The United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been celebrated around the world on December 3rd since 1992. This year, the theme of the annual event is Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want. It focuses on the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their role in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities. It also hopes to assess the current status of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and SDGs, and lay the foundation for a future of greater inclusion for persons with disabilities.
