Holland Bloorview applauds government's action on persons with disabilities

Toronto, March 23, 2013 – The Federal Budget: Economic Action Plan 2013 recognizes the unique challenges faced by persons with disabilities in Canada. As Canada's largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital knows first-hand how difficult it is for youth with disabilities to transition into the workforce and is committed to a vision that creates a world of possibility for kids with disabilities.

"We applaud the government's commitment to create job opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Canada," says Sheila Jarvis, President and CEO of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. "These efforts will help to ensure youth and adults with disabilities have greater opportunity for employment and to fully participate in society."

Fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Holland Bloorview is home to the Bloorview Research Institute, a world leader in research and innovation focused on improving the lives of kids with disabilities.

"Further study into the full participation of persons with disabilities in the labour market will help to identify and reduce barriers. We are pleased to see the Federal Government's commitment to research in this area." says Sheila Jarvis.
