R2Play-Rehab: Co-designing an Integrative Multidomain Active Rehabilitation Tool for Youth with Concussion
Summary
The research team at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has developed an assessment tool called R2Play that is designed to help healthcare providers determine when youth are ready to return to sport (return-to-play) after concussion. Initial feedback has suggested that R2Play may also be useful as an active rehabilitation tool. This research study therefore aims to adapt R2Play as a rehabilitation tool and develop an active rehabilitation intervention that uses R2Play to help youth recover after concussion (R2Play-Rehab).

Call to action
We are looking for certified rehabilitation healthcare providers to participate in this research project.
Who can participate
We are looking for rehabilitation clinicians who are registered/certified healthcare providers (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Athletic therapy etc.) and:
- Have at least 2 years of clinical experience in active rehabilitation for concussion
- Actively work regularly with clients with a concussion.
Clinicians who cannot commit to completing asynchronous training modules (if unfamiliar with R2Play), an introductory meeting, two-to-four-week field-kit period, design meeting, and follow-up survey (~6-7 hours in total over the course of ~6 months) are not eligible for this study.
Funding agency
Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport
What's involved
Participants will be asked to:
- Fill out a demographic questionnaire.
- Complete asynchronous training modules (if unfamiliar with R2Play).
- Participate in an introductory meeting to learn study procedures.
- Complete a two-to-four-week field-kit period to identify potential R2Play-rehab intervention opportunities in clinical practice.
- Participate in a final design meeting to review and build upon field kit responses.
- Complete an exit survey.
The total time commitment is 6-7 hours over the course of ~6 months.
Participants will receive a gift card to thank them for their time.
