Education & Training

Jason completed his Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2019, followed by his Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2021. He became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2025, and is now pursuing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto with the PRISM Lab.

Research

Jason is interested in brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies for children with disabilities. His Master's research focused on developing a BCI for youth with brain lesions using an EEG source imaging approach. During his role as a BCI Designer at the PRISM Lab, he developed the Mindset software platform, which enables BCI-based recreational and communication activities for clients at Holland Bloorview's Clinical BCI Program. Mindset is now being used in children treatment centers and schools across Ontario, as well as research labs in the US. For his PhD research, Jason will continue exploring communication BCIs for pediatric rehabilitation.
