Genuine Lam
Genuine steps into his role on the Holland Bloorview Hospital Foundation Board of Directors with a deep sense of humility and purpose. He currently serves as the Associate Director at Landpower Real Estate, a boutique real estate brokerage based out of Markham, Ontario. Before joining Landpower, Genuine was a Director of a Shanghai-based investment firm specializing in structuring Joint Ventures and Private Equity partnerships in Canadian Real Estate projects. Genuine was a two year co-chair for the Greater Toronto United Way Blossom Ball, one of the largest fundraisers in the city. He actively supports many other charitable causes such as Fete Chinoise, the latest initiative being “Love at Mid-Autumn” where Genuine co-chaired. He particularly enjoys the friendly competition on top of the leaderboards of Capes for Kids in the last few years. He was also a former board member at Logos Baptist Church (York Region). Genuine brings a wealth of professional and volunteer experience to the table. Yet, it is his personal connection to Holland Bloorview that lies at the heart of his dedication to the board.
Genuine's journey with Bloorview began with his firstborn son, who has been a recipient of the hospital's outstanding care since he was born. The hospital and school have been a beacon of support for his family, a second home, providing not just medical care but also a nurturing community. This profound experience has instilled in Genuine and his family a deep gratitude and a strong desire to give back to the institution that has given so much to his family.
In joining the board, Genuine is eager to learn from seasoned philanthropists and contribute his unique perspective as an immigrant who is now fluent in both eastern and western cultures. He believes that his ethnic background and experiences can add valuable insights to the board's deliberations and decisions. Genuine sees this opportunity as a way to bridge diverse communities and enhance the inclusive ethos of Holland Bloorview.
In his new role, Genuine aims to humbly use his professional insights to aid the board’s initiatives while staying grounded in the firsthand knowledge he has gained as a parent of a Bloorview kid. His broad range of interests, from basketball, architecture to art and antiques, informs his perspective, enabling him to approach the board’s work with a creative and holistic view.
