Alan Polak

Alan has a 28-year track record of successfully executing client mandates across M&A, IPO and financing transactions. He is a trusted advisor to CEOs, founders, management teams, owners and Boards of Directors. Alan has a broad-based background working at both full-service bank-owned dealers and independent investment banks.

Prior to joining National Bank in January 2025, Alan was Head of the Canadian Diversified Industries Group at TD Securities, and previously, Head of the Canadian Financial Sponsors Group after initially joining TD as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group. 

Prior to TD, Alan was an original equity partner at Genuity Capital Markets, an employee-owned independent investment bank, and stayed through the merger creating Canaccord Genuity, where he was subsequently appointed to lead the Financial Institutions Group. 

Alan started his career at Scotiabank Global Banking & Markets before moving to the M&A group at CIBC Capital Markets.

Alan is a CFA charterholder. He completed his PhD at the University of Oxford, MA at the University of Toronto and BA at Western University.
