Yara completed her dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering from Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2021-2022. As part of the Biomedical Engineering research team, she contributed to biomechanics studies in her university's lab, and has also worked with The Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey.
For her capstone project in 2021, Yara designed an EEG-controlled robotic arm using a motor imagery (MI)-based brain-computer interface (BCI) powered by the EMOTIV EEG headset. Throughout her academic journey, she delved into human motion analysis projects encompassing gait analysis, the influence of sports on motion and muscle activity, evaluation of Parkinson's disease symptoms and treatment efficacy, as well as center of mass studies.
Yara is driven by the ambition to craft innovative concepts to further channel her enthusiasm into groundbreaking projects and solutions benefiting children and youth with disabilities and special needs, by envisioning a constructive collaboration between modern technology and medicine.
Other Interests
Yara is passionate about arts, painting, and handmade crafts. She also enjoys all kinds of adventure and sports.
