Equipment (Maximum of $1,000)

Equipment funding may be considered for up to $1,500 if costs exceed $1,000 for an individual item or single transaction.

Equipment rentals have a $500 maximum.

  • Car Seats (Specialized or off the shelf depending on documentation and needs of client)

  • Foot orthotics (inserts)

  • Hearing aids 
  • Helmets 
  • Hospital mattresses 
  • Limb prosthetics

  • Oxygen machines 
  • Other respiratory devices (e.g. BiPAP)

  • Rental equipment (e.g. commodes, communication devices, hospital mattresses, standers, walkers, wheelchairs, writing aids)

    • Compression Garments

    • Floor Mats
    • Putty (i.e., therapeutic)

  • Specialized vision aids (specialized glasses, magnifiers and other optical aids)

Ineligible items:

  • Costs associated with vehicle and home modifications/repairs 
  • Jungle Gyms
  • Swings
  • Trampolines
Respite/Childcare: at home or at camp (Maximum of $750)

Eligible items:

  • 1:1 support provided to a client attending a camp program 
  • Respite*:
    • at a known respite facility (including Holland Bloorview) or agency (camp costs and nursing are not covered)
    • provided by a non-agency worker (e.g., family caregiver who is not a parent or guardian)
    • provided to the client at home by a recognized organization offering respite care

   * Respite worker must be age 18 or over

Recreation (Maximum of $500)

Eligible items:

  • Recreational programs (not therapy-based) such as:
    • art programs 
    • social programs/activities
    • sports
    • summer camps
Medication - Prescribed (Maximum of $500; Deflazacort up to $1,500)

Eligible items: 

  • Medication not covered by OHIP Plus that is critical for your child’s health
  • Oral nutrition supplements for clients who require additional dietary support due to their diagnosis
  • Prescription medications (not over the counter) with an assigned Drug Insurance Number (DIN) that are not covered by OHIP or medical insurance
