Marina Petrevska

Marina Petrevska is a PhD student in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto and is co-supervised by Dr. Virginia Wright and Dr. Elaine Biddiss (Pearl Lab). She is a registered physiotherapist and has spent over a decade working to promote accessibility, inclusivity, and mobility through play for children of all abilities. As a volunteer, lead coach and program coordinator for the largest accessible soccer program in Ontario, Marina has worked with volunteers, children, families, clinicians, and researchers to create activity programs at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Grandview Children’s Centre and Parasport Ontario, among others. As a current Director at Large for the Centre for Accessible Sport and Play, Marina hopes to continue to create opportunities for sport and play for all children.

Marina’s PhD project aims to explore how home-based interactive computer play games may be used to improve lower extremity function, activity, and participation outcomes in children with neuromotor disorders. Marina hopes to help children achieve recommended amounts of movement practice and broadly increase accessibility to therapy as a home-based option.

Outside of her research, Marina enjoys hiking, watching romantic comedies, dancing to 80s music and travelling.
