The Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care has named Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital the Green Hospital of the Year for 2019 in the non-acute hospital peer group. It also recognized Holland Bloorview for its environmental and sustainability initiatives with a top score award for pollution prevention, and honourable mention awards for leadership, waste and water.

A comprehensive healthcare benchmarking tool, the Green Hospital Scorecard (GHS) measures energy and water conservation, waste management and recycling, corporate commitment and pollution prevention. Participating hospitals report on their environmental and sustainability initiatives through an online questionnaire and the resulting scorecard summarizes their environmental performance relative to their peers.

I’m proud to be acknowledged for our efforts to create a more environmentally-friendly organization.”

Hospitals were selected for awards based on data submitted to the 2019 GHS program. Neil Ritchie, executive director, the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care, presented the awards at a virtual ceremony in December 2020.

Holland Bloorview has been recognized with awards from the coalition since the inception of the GHS program in 2014.
