Bill and Susanne put the "Holland" in Bloorview
In the past 10 years, Bill and Susanne Holland have donated an unprecedented $26.2 million to Holland Bloorview, making the Holland Family the single largest contributor to childhood disability in Canada.
To recognize their generosity the hospital was renamed Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in 2010. Bill and Susanne Holland’s exceptional philanthropy over the past ten years has set up the success of our current No Limits Campaign for childhood disability. Campaign funding is impacting every area of our hospital and allowing us to develop innovative technologies and treatments, new family resources and leading edge teaching and learning tools for training the next generation of childhood disability specialists.
The success of the campaign is encouraging the Hospital to think big. Funding will support brain science research, including cutting-edge research in autism, cerebral palsy and brain-computer interfaces for children unable to speak or move.
The Hollands’ most recent gift is accelerating discovery and knowledge translation through attracting and recruiting leading experts – clinician scientists, doctors and therapists - who will help us to further integrate research, education and care. Thanks to Bill and Susanne’s funding we have recently recruited a Chair in Acquired Brain Injury to lead a program of original research and facilitate its swift translation into practice. The Holland Family’s philanthropy will make it possible for Holland Bloorview to export innovative technologies and novel practices to benefit kids across the country and around the world.
In addition to their unparalleled financial support, Susanne and Bill are dedicated Holland Bloorview volunteers and powerful advocates for kids with disabilities. Thanks to the Hollands’ outstanding philanthropy, Canada’s most vulnerable children are receiving better, faster and more effective care and have a greater chance than ever before to lead unlimited lives.
