Education & Training

Marita received her Bachelor of Applied Science in mechanical engineering, with a specialization in biomechanical engineering, from Queen’s University in 2022. During the summer of 2021 she worked under Dr. Claire Davies in the Building and Designing Assistive Technology (BDAT) Lab as a Research Assistant. In this position she worked on designing devices catered towards client’s needs, specifically focused on rapid prototyping using 3D printing.

For her capstone project, Marita and her team members designed splints for small mammals being cared for at the Sandy Pines Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The team designed an adaptive CAD file that could be easily manipulated to change dimensions based on the specific animal’s size. The splints were produced through 3D-printing.

Marita is excited to continue her education within Biomedical Engineering and is driven to contribute to research aimed at helping those with disabilities.

Other Interests

Marita loves drawing, playing ukelele, and baking in her free time. She also loves travelling and is currently learning how to play guitar.
