A survey study to explore the air travel experiences of families of children and youth with physical disabilities.
Summary
Our team aims to shed light on the air travel experiences of caregivers of children with physical disabilities since their perspectives have been largely underrepresented. We hope that our findings will help to further advance the accessibility of air travel and enhance the experiences of families living with childhood disabilities.

“Are you the caregiver of a child/youth with a physical disability and have air travel experience? Consider participating in a research study to share your experiences about your access to services and resources while flying.”
Who can participate
Parents/caregivers who:
- Care for children with physical disabilities (e.g., spina bifida, cerebral palsy, amputation, etc.)
- Are aged 18 years or older (children can be any age)
- Live in Canada
- Have experience traveling via commercial airlines with their child(ren) with a physical disability
What's involved
You will be asked to complete an online survey that will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey includes questions about your recent air transportation experiences. Specifically, it will collect the following information:
- Information about you (for example, your age and gender);
- Information about your child (for example, their physical disability diagnosis);
- Your experiences with air transportation with your child (for example, challenges you or your child experience during transport, how access to air transportation affects your daily life).
