PhD Candidate
Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto
Advisor: Dr. Tom Chau

Education & Training

Stefanie received her Bachelor of Science in biology and medical science from Western University in 2016. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in molecular biology and avian physiology labs, discovering that galectins (a family of glycan-binding proteins) could be used as biomarkers for migration in songbirds.

Stefanie received her Master of Science from the University of Guelph in 2019, where she investigated neuroregeneration in geckos. She examined dynamic aspects of the central and peripheral nervous systems following appendage loss and spinal cord rupture. She fostered collaborations between biomedical, neuroscience, and human health & nutritional science departments for her thesis research.
