Tom Chau Tapped as a 2012 UofT Inventor of the Year

Tom Chau, Holland Bloorview’s Vice President of Research and Director of the Bloorview Research Institute, is one of 10 to be named Inventor of the Year at the University of Toronto. Tom Chau, who is also an Associate Professor in IBBME, as well as Canada Research Chair in Pediatric Rehab Engineering, is being recognized for his work with children with severe disabilities. Widely recognized as a leader in communications technologies, Chau researches neural interfaces to aid communication for children with severe disabilities. "This is a special honor," says Chau. "The award recognizes the importance of innovation in the area of childhood disability. Indeed, what drives our trainees and scientists at the Bloorview Research Institute is the passion to make a difference in the lives of children living with disability through interdisciplinary applied health science research."
