Jennifer Ryan is an MSc candidate in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto and is supervised by Dr. Virginia Wright. She is a physiotherapist at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital who works in inpatient rehabilitation and has participated in research involving children with cerebral palsy and acquired brain injuries. Jennifer’s MSc project will focus on the application of motor learning strategies within physiotherapy intervention. More specifically, she will be determining the reliability of the Motor Learning Strategies Rating Instrument in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy, and comparing the motor learning approaches of traditional physiotherapy intervention with robotic gait training using the Lokomat®. Jennifer also aims to develop a clinically applicable self-assessment checklist that therapists can use to understand and optimize the extent to which they incorporate motor learning strategies in their interventions.
