Welcome to the Population Neuroscience & Developmental Neuroimaging Program at the Bloorview Research Institute. This Program has been established in July 2018 with the arrival of Dr. Tomas Paus at Holland Bloorview.
At Holland Bloorview, we will build on our expertise in multi-modal imaging of the human brain in large cohorts, as well as our knowledge of the structural and functional organization of the developing human brain, to conduct studies aimed at identifying factors influencing vulnerability and resilience to the impact of early adversity on brain maturation during childhood and adolescence. We hope that our work would yield foundational knowledge about the variety of personal pathways of physical and mental health from childhood to adulthood. This is essential for developing personalized approaches to removing boundaries faced by individuals growing up with disabilities, as well as for preventing the delayed impact of early adversities on mental and cognitive health.
